5 Effective Ways to Use the Twitter on Your iPhone Twitter is a micro blogging platform which allows you to publish short messages of less than 140 characters through different mediums like IM, cellphones and the web. It has a social element as well, as it allows users to befriend and monitor each other’s messages or updates. So what you have here is a publishing tool that can be either public and private. It is also similar to an IRC channel although messages are displayed less rapidly. Some have called it a slower version of internet messengers.

Twitter allows users can be accessed using the iPhone todays. There are some ways to get your Twitter updates on your iPhone. Those are basically Email, Web-based Twitter Clients, SMS, Instant Messenger and Twitter Mobile friendly websites for now.

Web-based Twitter Clients

It is important to differentiate between a website and web-based client as they are expected to provide better user experience. There are some web-based Twitter clients for the iPhone already. PocketTweets, Hahlo, TwitterForiPhone and iTweet (you can also check here). With these web-based clients, Twitter users can access their own account easily.

Email

TwitterMail lets you tweet using email from your iPhone as simple as that. So all you need to do is to register at TwitterMail to give them your Twitter credentials and they will inturn supply you with a TwitterMail email address, that’s all you needed.

Twitter Mobile

You didn’t already know another option and like the SMS option this one too is available for mobile phones having a browser, is Twitter’s mobile browser friendly site over at Twitter Mobile. All you need to do is point your iPhone’s Safari browser to the above address and use it like you normally do on the website on your computer.

Instant Messenger

Twitter supports Jabber, AIM, Gtalk, and Livejournal chat addresses and we have already seen quite a few web-based instant messaging clients such as Mundu IM iPhone Edition, JiveTalk for iPhone that have brought instant messaging to the iPhone and support AIM and Gtalk so verify your IM address in case you have not already done at Twitter and using one of the above clients you should be able to send Twitter updates using your iPhone. For instructions on how to verify your Instant Messenger.

SMS

All you need to do is register/verify the number of your iPhone on Twitter’s website, and simply SMS your messages to 40404 (in US). But do remember that depending on your tarrif plans, you will be using up free monthly SMS for each Twitter updates you send using this option.

iPhone users using these small clients to access their Twitter account. However, there are some facts about them. Honestly, I prefer what Twitter should develop their currently web-based friendly website interface more or develop acceptable 3rd party Twitter application like Thin Cloud for currently iPhone users in near future but more impressive. Of course there will be some software for this purpose but they cannot go anywhere with basic user interface, hopeless utilization and others negative things.

Many Twitter users want to customize their own Twitter pages also and users assume that it can be done with a 3rd party Twitter application for iPhone user’s needs.

Have you tried one of these effective ways to use the Twitter on your iPhone yet?
